Windows Updates

Windows Updates

We recommend keeping Windows updated. These updates are from Microsoft and are important to ensure that your POS terminals are secure and operate at their best.
As POSbiz requires windows to run, we want to ensure that all POS are as up to date as they can be to eliminate any possible issues.

We do sometime see issues arise due to a POS terminal not having received Windows updates from Microsoft. This can affect the Pos software by causing issues to printers or being able to operate POSbiz (or Menumate).

We recommend checking all your POS terminals and making sure they are up to date, or setting them to install updates overnight, using the following steps.

Please follow the below to check if Windows on all your POS terminals is up to date.

Find out which Windows version you are running

On your POS terminal click or tap on the start button.
This is normally in the bottom left of the screen.

If the menu looks similar to this you have Windows 7.

If your start menu looks similar to this you have Windows 10.
Windows 10 updates automatically, but it is worth checking to ensure all your POS are up to date.

Windows 7

Click on the Start button and select Control Panel

From the list select ‘Windows Update’

If it shows that there are updates to do, please set these to update at a time where they can process outside of your trading hours.

We want to see that your POS is up to date.  If it is then you are all set.

Ensure to check all POS terminals.

Windows 10

Click on the Start button and click on the Gear Icon or Settings.

Select Updates & Security

Ensure that Windows is up to date. If not or you want to check, select Check for updates.
